Review: Giesswein is NOT China-free

Read their FAQ; Where are Giesswein shoes made. It states, confusingly: “Our Merino Shoes are MADE IN AUSTRIA, and are assembled in Vietnam or China”. It seems they mean the merino fabrics are made in Austria, with the wool itself coming from Uruguay. Having owned two pairs over three years, I will say that the quality is a step up from other brands assembling in China/Vietnam, although they don’t keep their promises of their merino wool — it’s definitely not waterproof and it will most assuredly smell! I will probably avoid them now that I know where they are assembled (this info was not on their FAQ three years ago; I had to actually buy them to find out).
